A full roof restoration is a complete renovation of your entire roof, leaving it just as good as new. The following steps are involved:
- Firstly, we clean your roof with a high-pressure hose
- We remove all the old bedding and replace it with new bedding
- We then apply flexible pointing to your roof
- We replace all broken and cracked tiles with new tiles
- We clean your roof and gutters of all debris
- Finally, we apply a primer, then two colour coatings
The duration of a roof restoration project can vary depending on factors such as the size of the roof, the extent of damage, and the weather conditions. Typically, a roof restoration can take anywhere from two to four days to complete. It’s best to consult with a professional roofing contractor to get a more accurate estimate based on your specific situation.
High-pressure washing of the roof is a cleaning technique that involves using a high-pressure water spray to remove dirt, debris, algae, moss, and other contaminants from the surface of the roof. This method is effective in restoring the appearance of the roof and can help prolong its lifespan by eliminating potentially damaging elements. Using highly pressurised water (3,500psi) we remove all moss, lichens and dirt from your roof without using any harsh chemicals that may harm your garden.
Bedding is a sand and cement mixture that is used as a foundation to hold ridge caps and gable tiles to your roof. It is commonly used in conjunction with roof ridge caps, hip caps, and valley tiles to provide stability and prevent water penetration. Bedding helps to create a secure bond between the roofing materials and the underlying structure, enhancing the overall durability and longevity of the roof. We use coloured flexible pointing on top of the bedding.
Flexible pointing, also known as flexible roof pointing or flexible roof compound, is a type of sealant commonly used in roofing applications. It is typically applied along the joints and edges of roof tiles, ridge caps, and other roofing elements to create a waterproof seal and provide protection against water infiltration. Because the pointing is flexible, it won’t crack like conventional cement pointing with house movements. This gives your roof great longevity.
Primer is a substance that is applied to the washed cement roof tiles. The primer soaks and bonds into the tiles, giving them extra strength. Primer on tiles also makes a great base for sealer to adhere to. Primer on tiles also makes a great base for sealer to adhere to.
A sealer coat refers to a protective layer applied to the surface of a roof to enhance its durability, weather resistance, and lifespan. This coat is typically made of specialised sealant materials designed to seal porous surfaces, such as concrete tiles, asphalt shingles, or metal roofing panels. The primary purpose of a sealer coat is to provide a barrier against water penetration, UV radiation, mould, mildew, and other environmental factors that can cause damage to the roof over time. By creating a waterproof and weather-resistant barrier, the sealer coat helps to prevent leaks, cracks, and deterioration of the roofing materials, ultimately extending the life of the roof. The sealer is applied after the roof has had a primer coating.
